Downtown Annapolis: Historic Kitchen

This home is over 100 years old and used to be a bakery! The basement still has the antique cooking equipment down there which is really neat feature of the home.

The main level of this historic home has a narrow, 'shotgun' layout. Our clients really wanted an island to be able to sit at with their son on a regular basis so we made sure to get this in there while still allowing for ample walk/work space.

If you view the "before" photo of this space, you'll notice an old brick bump out (this was used for the bakery back in the day). We LOVED this feature of the home but unfortunately, the brick did not hold up well and in order to accommodate an island we needed to eliminate this little piece of history. In doing so, we placed brick veneer along the entire wall and added a cute little coffee station to keep the historic vibe and add multi-function to the space. This result was a win win and we love how the wood shelves provide alternate texture against the brick. Lots of elements were incorporated in this space!

In addition to the custom coffee station, we also created a one of a kind nook in back corner of the kitchen for a more formal eating area.

For this project, we were able to keep the existing tile floors which was a great cost saver. We maintained relative plumbing and electric locations, while adding in extra storage and new appliances. Our clients wanted a fun space that reflected their personality with a pop of color, and eclectic but traditional vibe. We pulled it all together with the finishing touches and furniture!
